Sometimes it's nice to have an assessment like that also validate what we think -- am I afraid of success or is there something else that is smacking me in the head that I am not paying attention to? It's interesting to see that was highlighted for you Sue, and I can relate because I used to sabotage things for myself too until I recognized what I was doing (actually, someone else pointed it out to me several years ago) -- it's amazing how difficult it is for us to see these things in ourselves, isn't it?

I'm really glad you found the assessment. Hopefully your experience will prompt others to give it a shot too. Very Happy

I scored on my horizontal lines almost to the very right hand side on all but one. That one came right to the vertical line. It tied in with what we talked on the phone: fear of success. Amazing that that assessment caught that. Very interesting indeed!

Hey Sue I'm glad you checked it out, and thank you for your comments. I think it's fine to disagree with some of their findings; that's part of what makes entrepreneurs successful, I think is that ability to take things with a grain of salt and alsl use what makes sense. Overall, I think there is validity to the assessment, and it can open people's eyes to some aspects of business planning that perhaps they have not considered previously.
When I took it, I found it helpful because there were areas that I scored at the "average" line and slightly below that I figured I needed to get some help in. Now that I have developed those areas, my business is doing much better than it was a couple of years ago, although I've still got lots of room for improvement yet, tweaking tweaking tweaking. Wink

I took the test. In one category I disagreed with the results. Then I thought perhaps it was because at the beginning I wasn't sure of the question and hedged. I am still trying to figure out what it all means. Wish they would give a summary to help with that.

It might help those who are not sure about their path, abilities, or just plan unsure. For me, I knew most of what it was telling me. Perhaps I am the wrong person to give it a rating.

Sue the link is to a questionnaire that helps you to figure out whether you have what it takes to handle being self employed, compared to other successful entrepreneurs (like how much risk you can stand, how assertive you are at selling yourself, etc.). If you check it out, let me know what you think. Very Happy

You mention, Pam, that the link is for an assessment. What type of assessment is it: financial, planning, etc.?

You’ve got to be a certain type of person to manage your own business, and you’ve also got to have your life set up to manage the first several months or even years while the business gets underway and you start making money. If you are wondering if you have what it takes to consider working for yourself, there are all kinds of options on-line. The trouble is that many of them make you provide your email address in order to get your
results, and then they flood your email with spam.

The Business Development Bank of Canada offers an excellent assessment that doesn’t ask you to sign up, log in or jump on. The link is long so if it doesn't work, simply copy it and paste it into your browser window.
