| I wanted to pop in here and introduce myself. I'm a retired teacher and soon-to-be-published author. In October, it appears I'll be receiving my copies of three different books!!! There is no more room in the garage and no way to add on to the house; so I suppose I'll be busy marketing myself and my books between now and then.
Today I talked to the woman who will be guiding me through the "Forest of Publishing." So far, tales of publishing sound a bit like Hansel and Gretl's adventure in the dark, mysterious forest. (I wonder if anyone returns to Civilization after entering the Forest of Publishing.) The book I was arranging today is my first children's book: The Knock-Kneed Cowboy: A Celebration of Individuality. (I recognize that "individuality" doesn't sound much like it belongs in a kids' book title, but if fourth-graders haven't learned to divide words into syllables, I'll recommend they learn to do so before they get to read this book. Does that sound a bit like, "I'll let you have some spinach if you'll eat your ice cream"?)
My passion is empowering others to appreciate the significance of their lives and to accept themselves "warts and all." That passion is at the heart of KKC and of my portion of each of the co-authored books.
I am perhaps MOST excited about the powerful upcoming book Wake Up Women BE Happy, Healthy, and Wealthy - written by women and for women (though no damage will be done to men's testosterone levels if they read it). My chapter shows a creative way we all can use to reframe "problems" in life so that we can accept the gift that is hidden within.
For people who fear they will have difficulty finding things to do following retirement, fear not! Keep your mind and your heart open, and you - as have I - will attract many unbelievably satisfying - and challenging - endeavors to keep you out of the Bingo Parlor!
I'll sign off now: I'm learning how to set up websites! Your un-geeky friend, Billie Willmon Jenkin |
